SHOULD the city council's name be changed to reflect the character of the whole district?
That's the question currently being raised at the town hall and councillors want to hear what the public think.
Should it stay Lancaster City Council or how about Lancaster Morecambe and Lunesdale?
Other suggestions include Morecambe Bay or Lancaster, Morecambe and the Lune Valley.
"The district boasts three very different, beautiful areas each with its own distinct essence," said Cllr Tricia Heath, "it's time each area was given its full place in the title in the council. We should be proud of the whole district and let everyone know the diverse excellence of city coast and country this district can offer. I've even had a letter from someone in Lancaster saying it would be a good idea."
The name change could help promote tourism and the wider area and Cllr June Ashworth added: "We need to give Morecambe and very other district back its pride. For too long we have been hidden under the umbrella of Lancaster City."
Any decision to change the name of the local authority would be put before the full council and would need two thirds of members to vote for it.
