A 12-year-old boy was shot in the leg by a fellow pupil's air rifle at Carr Hill High School, Kirkham.
The boy was taken to hospital by his mother after being injured while playing during the lunchtime break.
Police received a call from the school's head teacher at about 12.30pm on Tuesday Sgt Swindles, from Kirkham Police Station, said that police had taken some air pellets from a pupil at the school and were conducting an investigation into the incident. The boy was not seriously injured.
