HUNDREDS of mourners are expected at council leader George Bancroft's funeral on Friday, July 20.
Politicians, trade unionists and friends will all be paying their respects to the Blackpool councillor who died last week after a battle against ill health.
The service is being held at 11.30am at St. John's Church in Blackpool. This will be followed by a private committal at Carleton Crematorium for family and close friends only prior to a gathering for refreshments at Blackpool Town Hall at 2pm.
All meetings at the Town Hall have been suspended on the day as a mark of respect to Coun Bancroft, who died in Blackpool Victoria Hospital last Wednesday. His family has asked for donations in Coun Bancroft's memory to be made to the Arthritis Research Campaign on 596754.
Deputy leader, Roy Fisher is currently standing in as acting leader until any further descisions are made on the matter.
