FURTHER to my letter dated May 17 and in The Citizen June 1, I have a further grievance (if that is the right word) concerning the well-being of my mother and father-in-law who reside in a local authority rest home, and the other residents.
In the past few years, the staff level of this rest home has been cut quite drastically and I must say the present staff do an excellent job and they should get praised for the amount of work they get through but, (there is always a but) I've heard that the staff levels are being cut again from October and I find this quite disconcerting, i.e. staff being made to work part-time only. Not only are the present staff going to find it difficult and stressful personally, but the level of care and safety to residents is going to decrease. This is totally wrong.
