MAY I add my comments to G. E. Kennedy's excellent letter in The Citizen (July 12).

Mr Pullan has said that if anyone wants a full list of rest homes it is available on request, but this has not been my experience.

Twice I have asked at the social services office for the list and I have only received the one listing the starred homes. When I asked for the full list I was told that the one I had been given was the only one available.

As all rest homes in the area have to be registered (for a fee) and in order to become registered the homes have to be examined on more than one occasion throughout the year, I feel that the social services department has a duty to all the homes to produce a full list and that it should be available to all who ask.

Producing only a list of homes that have also paid dearly for a second examination shows bias and I feel that the department is displaying a dereliction of duty by ignoring all non-starred but registered homes.

I understand that the company of which Mr. Pullan and Mr. Hessey are directors has its head office in Brighton and that maybe other towns use their services.

It would be interesting to discover how other places view this particular star rating system as it would appear that other areas in the North West all use the Investors In People system and one wonders therefore why Blackpool is the only town to have rejected it.

It would appear that over £100,000 is paid to this non-profit-making company from Blackpool alone and I am also curious to know how this money is used with the directors not being paid and the inspectors working for only two or three months in the year on a day to day basis. I feel that the disposal of such an amount would make interesting reading,
