CONDITIONS at Walshaw were very wet when skipper Rob Faulkner won the toss and elected to bat first.

Runs were not easy to come by, but two patient knocks of 46 and 43 from Faulkner and Mark Forrest respectively helped the home side to 157 for 8 from 47 overs after one over had been deducted from each side for a late start.

When Adlington replied they were soon 5 for 2 -- with early wickets each for Steve Price and Barry Hamilton -- and they never really recovered, nor looked likely to reach Walshaw's total.

The result gave Walshaw 12 points for a winning draw and Mark Forrest won the man-of-the-match award.

PROFESSIONAL Chris Hall's fine knock of 83 couldn't stop Elton going down to title-chasing Clifton.

Hall's contribution was the mainstay of the Leigh Lane lads' total of 190, though a useful innings of 34 from Peter Kay and 19 from the paid man's brother, Mike, were the only two Elton batsmen to reach double figures.

Clifton professional David Parkinson was the executioner-in-chief with five wickets for 53 and, earlier in the game, he showed his all-round ability by cracking 71 as his team put on 203 for 5 -- a total that was just out of the Bury side's reach.
