UNKNOWN Englishman Greg Owen is a shock joint leader in the second round of The Open at Royal Lytham.
Owen - in only his third Open - raised a few eyebrows as he swept past the best golfers in the world.
He told the BBC: "I'm over the Moon - delighted.
"I saw my name at the top of the leaderboard and it sent a shiver down my spine."
Owen, 29, from Mansfield, made a charge for the top spot when he holed his fifth birdie at the 17th.
And he took the overall lead on six under par when American outsider Joe Ogilvie dropped a shot at the 17th.
But Owen fell back one at the 18th to finish five under - joint top.
Overnight leader Colin Montgomerie was also sharing the lead.
He managed only a bogey at the 3rd to go five under after leading overnight.
Swede Jesper Parnevik was also on five under after a sparkling morning session.
Defending champ Tiger Woods began his campaign with four straight pars to stay at level, six shots off the lead.
