A TRAILER flipped over at a busy town centre roundabout spilling out tons of glass cullet all over the grass verge.
The accident happened at about 1.20pm on Friday, July 13, at the Asda roundabout near St Thomas Church.
Police cordoned off part of the island as a bulldozer removed the shattered glass, and Kirkland Street was closed until 6.30pm to allow a crane to lift the lorry back on its wheels and the vehicle rescue team to tow it away.
A couple of passers-by who tried to offer assistance, told The Star: "We heard a loud bang and as we came out to see what had happened the back of the lorry was on its side on top of some railings and there was glass everywhere.
"It was a minor miracle that no-one was walking on the grass at the time because they would have been seriously injured. Despite it being a busy part of the day no other vehicles were involved and the driver managed to walk away unscathed. "
