A LEIGH women's group has beaten off a challenge from community organisations throughout the country to win a faster connection to the world wide web. Women for Well Women has received one of the latest internet-ready PC systems, thanks to a BT award. The group, which promotes the health and well being of women through further education, counselling and support services, took possession of the system after a panel of judges decided their plans would make a real and lasting difference to the community. The Church Street group provides a confidential counselling centre, self-help groups and drop-in sessions. The new PC will be used to gather current information relating to women's issues and to teach basic computer classes in a non-threatening environment.
