LOWTON St Mary's Scouts and Cubs entered their speedy creations Sparrow and Sparrowhawk in the National Scoutcar races at Scarborough but this time, did not get among the awards.
The races, for pedal cars built by Scouts using old cycle parts, reach speeds of more than 20 miles per hour, and attracted entries from 40 Scout groups across the country.
Cub entrants from Lowton were Rhys Colwell, Alex Berry-Price, Joseph Singleton, Nat Morris, Alex Hayes, Sam Blower and Ben Eastham.
The scouts were Alex Blower, Alex Goodland, Mark Molyneux, Jonathon Massey, Richard Handley, Graham Ince, Daryl Hilton, Shaun Roberts, Phil Griffiths and Tom Owen.
All teams reached the finals of the sprint races but were not placed. Shaun Roberts was second coming to the finish in his final, but was hit by another car.
In the relay race, the team of Jonathon Massey, Graham Ince, Daryl Hilton and Tom Owen took third prize. SO CLOSE: Scouts and Cubs who took part in national races PICTURE: Alec Hughes
