IT MIGHT have looked like horseplay at Larkhill, but there was a serious purpose as Thwaites dray horses Royal and Regent stepped out in Blackburn.
The star equine pair were being put through their paces by wagon driver Richard Green and colleague Andrew Whetton, ready for the Royal Lancashire Show at Astley Park, Chorley, on July 27 to 29.
Head horseman Charles Beardmore said Royal and Regent would appear each day in a 20-minute musical drive around the main show ring, along with pairs from brewers Tetley and Bass.
