A 23-YEAR-OLD man has appeared in court charged with wounding following an attack on a 26-year-old Blackburn man last week.
Mohammed Shakil Khan was left lying in a pathway with serious head injuries after the attack near St James Road last Wednesday night.
Qassar Akbar, of Gorse Road, Blackburn, appeared before Blackburn magistrates charged with wounding Mr Khan with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.
He was remanded on bail until July 25 on condition that he lives at an address in Rochdale, does not enter Blackburn except to attend court and does not contact prosecution witnesses.
Teresa Feeley, prosecuting, said the matter would normally be sent straight to the crown court.
But, she added, a second man was due to be charged in connection with the incident and it would be better if both could be linked at the magistrates court.
