FOR the first time in a while, I went to see the canal in the Water Street area of Radcliffe.
I got quite a shock. It was an absolute disgrace, yet nearer to Bury, the towpath had been improved and the canal looked lovely. It was the same towards Bolton.
The canal at Water Street resembles a bog! Why has it been so neglected? The matter should be given urgent attention.
Restoration work at this point would be more edifying to the general public than any displays in Radcliffe of "Rusty Nails" or concrete blocks.
I.D., Radcliffe.
