THANK goodness the muggy heatwave is over. At least we can get some sleep.
I had to resort to buying a powerful fan, but I'm not the only one complaining.
The sultry evenings of late have driven 23 per cent of couples apart, one partner heading for the spare bedroom or settee, according to a survey for an air conditioning firm, obviously touting for business.
It showed eight out of 10 people try to beat the heat by getting rid of the sheets and duvets - cossetted dogs and cats too I should imagine.
However, according to weather forecasters, we're in for a bit more discomfort yet - there's a few more baking summer days still to come.
Where are they? It looks like autumn's come early. This week, the poor trees took a battering from high winds.
The roads on Wednesday morning were lined with fallen leaves - and it was back to winter woollies in the evenings.
We can't win. It wouldn't be so bad if it when we do get some heat it was dry like it is abroad - here it is just unbearable.
