THE RAM Inn, Cliviger, is on course to retain its title in the Vintage Inns' Mystery Dinner League.
Throughout the year each of the chain's 180 pubs are visited and given marks out of 100 for a league table.
The mystery dinners do not make themselves known and the pubs only find out about it in a report through the post soon after.
So far the Ram Inn has received six 100s from 10 visits and with two more to go, it is leading the way. The pub won the competition last year.
Landlady Amy Murphy said: "The staff have given good service, and it really is a team effort to win this award. They mark you on everything from the look of the gardens to the food."
The staff will receive a trip to Dublin with free accommodation and expenses from Vintage Inns if they win.
