REGARDING your article (LET, July 18) about derelict land off Watery Lane, Darwen, being transformed into a play area, as a local resident, I feel very proud to have neighbours who would like to make the area more popular by working extremely hard for the past three years. I salute this small community group.
However, I am absolutely disgusted to find that some irresponsible, ignorant people still take their dogs on to the playing field to use as a toilet.
As a mum with two small children I was horrified to find that we still cannot use these facilities due to dog fouling.
I beg all dog owners who use these facilities to clean up the mess their animals make so we can all benefit from his new safe haven.
After all, is this not the beginning of bringing all age and sectors of the community together?
