A TEENAGER who fell into the river in Bocholt Way, Rawtenstall, fought with his rescuers.
Det Sgt Stuart Barlow said: "The youth had got drunk and fell backwards into the river.
"When members of the emergency services went to help him, he took exception to it.
"Obviously there were concerns for his welfare. He was eventually brought out of the water with the help of the fire brigade and others."
A 14-year-old boy was later taken to the police station and questioned about a possible drunk and disorderly offence.
