DOG owners in Rossendale are being urged to clean up after their pets.
The council is supporting the National Canine Defence League "Poop Scoop" week, handing out information and free scoops.
Rossendale dog warden David East said: "We are backing the nationwide scheme but this is a year-round day to day problem."
The council is playing its part by providing bins across the area. Mr East added: "We now have more than 70 and that is being increased by ten a year. The problem of dog fouling in Rossendale is no worse than anywhere else.
"There are many thoughtful owners out there but others who can't be bothered. We need to get the message across to them. That's the reason for Poop Scoop week."
