A JURY at Bolton Crown Court has cleared one man of unlawful wounding but was sent home to consider its verdict on two other men.
Victim Neil Yates was attacked and allegedly beaten by his former wife's new partner and the boyfriends of his two daughters.
Yesterday, 17- year-old Darrell Cocklin, of Crossdale Road, Hindley Green, the boyfriend of one of Yates' daughters, was cleared of unlawfully wounding him. He had denied the charge.
The remaining two defendants agree there was a disagreement at Hindley Conservative Club but that a fourth man had punched and kicked Yates as he lay on the ground outside.
Neil Toole, aged 40, of Laurel Crescent, Hindley Green, and Johnathon Gore, aged 20, of Lord Street, Hindley, are charged with unlawfully wounding Neil Yates on December 19, 1999. Both deny the charges.
