FOLLOWING defeat by Brookhouse in the final of the 7-a-side tournament, NQ suffered further frustration by losing to Nabipur in the quarter finals of the Sports Council Trophy.

NQ's strong batting line up will be disappointed not to have reached what seemed a modest total of 147 -- but all credit to Nabipur, who stuck to their task well and managed to bowl out their opponents for 132.

No such disappointment for Brookhouse, who have hit peak form at the right time and remain on course to repeat their treble success of last season.

Having quickly dismissed Mayfield for 126, K Mall (60no) and Habib (40) set up a comfortable seven wicket victory to round off a very successful weekend.

There was to be no giant killing act by Haideria of B Division, who were shot out for 91 by high flying Sansrod, who lost only one wicket in reaching their target.

They can now look forward to a more testing encounter with arch rivals Brookhouse in the semis.

Gujrat and Little Harwood fought out an exciting topsy turvy match, with victory eventually going to Little Harwood.

Gujrat will be kicking themselves for throwing away the advantage of a 97 run opening partnership in pursuit of Little Harwood's 165-9.

The loss of five quick wickets, however, brought about an attack of the jitters, and once Tufail had departed for a swashbuckling 58, Little Harwood were able to apply the necessary stranglehold, with Gujrat left to reflect how they managed to let this one slip from their grasp.
