EWOOD PARK will play host to David Platt's U21 team on Friday, October 5, when England take on Greece in their final European Championship qualifier (8pm).
New coach David Platt said: "This match could be crucial in terms of our qualification for next year's championships. If we do our job in the previous matches this one may well be the decider.
"Greece are never an easy proposition and this time will be no different. They have done extremely well in the qualifying group so far and we're anticipating a tough challenge."
To add even more spice to the night, Greece look set to include Burnley's new signing Dimitri Papadopoulos, who scored the first goal when Greece beat England 3-1 in the reverse fixture in Athens.
With so much at stake, Platt is looking for a boost from the Blackburn football community: "I'm confident that the local fans will turn out in force and create an electric atmosphere at Ewood Park.
"The group could go down to the wire and home advantage could prove decisive. Blackburn is a passionate football area and I hope the fans can get behind us in the same way they get behind Rovers."
The England coach, Sven-Goran Eriksson, agreed: "The senior team has received fantastic support around the country and I'm sure David and his team will get the same.
"There is no doubt that playing at home in front of a big crowd gives players a lift and I hope that the Blackburn fans can provide that 12th man in this crucial match. I am looking forward to being there in the crowd for what I'm sure will be a wonderful night."
Blackburn Rovers chief executive John Williams said: "We are delighted and honoured to stage this prestigious international fixture. It is a great opportunity for fans in Blackburn and the North West to support the national Under 21 side.
"We consistently generate a fantastic atmosphere at Ewood. I am sure our fans will respond to this chance and make it a great footballing occasion."
In recent games, Rovers' midfielder David Dunn has captained the Under 21s, winning 11 caps and scoring twice and central defender Martin Taylor has also appeared as a substitute.
