A DECISION on the controversial Halton Mills development on the picturesque banks of the River Lune has been deferred for further consultation.
Planners decided on Monday that further negotiations between the interested parties are needed before a decision can be made.
And the views of more people in the village are being sought by both the parish and city councils.
Cllr Paul Woodruff said: "It is most important that this issue is in the public forum.
"There is no doubt that, if the area is developed, the impact on the village would be substantial.
"The Halton Mills area consists of a large area of re-claimed land, a fairly run-down textile mill and a commercial building owned by a long established local business.
"The application has been deferred once again by the planning authority for further consultation. We are keen to keep up the debate and to listen to the residents and to properly represent the overall view to the planning authority."
A public meeting will be held on August 1 at Halton Community Centre at 8pm and anyone interested is urged to attend.
