A MORECAMBE teenager who took part in a street robbery has been put behind bars for a total of 10 months.
Judge Stuart Barker handed down the sentence on the 17 year old at Preston Crown Court after hearing how the youth had also burgled a home and placed himself in breach of a court order.
A 14-year-old who appeared to be sentenced for the same offences was placed on two years supervision.
A third defendant also stood in the dock with them. The 15 year old boy had admitted handling tobacco stolen during burglary.
Mr Jacob Dyer, prosecuting, said that in February this year a 15 year old girl was walking home from school with her sister and friend. She ended up being grabbed by two of the defendants, bin held while a CD player and headphones were taken from her in the street. That same month a house in Morecambe was burgled, a neighbour heard noises and alerted police.
Miss Sharon Watson for the eldest defendant who was 16 at the time, said the robbery had not been planned and no weapon had been involved.
They had literally bumped into the girls by chance in the street. Mr Philip Holden, for the 14 year old, said he had had past problems in his home life but was close to his family.
Mr David Pickup, for the third boy, said the juvenile had been playing with the other defendants.
He ending up holding some stolen tobacco when the police arrived.
He was then 14 years old. He was given a two year conditional discharge.
