MEMBERS of Earby Youth Club will find out early next week whether or not they will be getting a new youth shelter.
The club has applied for planning permission to build a shelter on land next to the Council Office and public car park in Victoria Road, which is currently a landscaped seating area with a telephone box in the corner.
The plans also include railings surrounding the shelter, seating and landscaping bear the electricity sub-station.
A report to the West Craven Committee said: "The concept behind the proposed youth shelter is to provide a central focus or area where teenagers/children can congregate following problems within the town of noise and disturbance resulting from large on-street gatherings, notably on Colne Road.
"The site will provide an adequate area which is a sufficient distance from residential properties to ensure that any noise will not disrupt residential amenity."
The shelter would be designed with help from Groundwork East Lancashire.
It has been recommended for approval by council planners.
