ENGLAND soccer supremo Sven Goran Eriksson is being tipped to perform the official opening ceremony when Blackpool Football Club unveils its long awaited new stands.
The club is remaining tight-lipped about any arrangements made for cutting the ribbon at the event which is planned for November.
Construction work on the new West and North stands is currently on target.
The England soccer boss is thought to have been approached by a lifelong Blackpool fan who holds a senior position in the football world.
Eriksson told him he would be delighted to perform the opening -- subject to any commitments that may arise with the England squad.
Nobody at the club was available to comment further.
Francis Charlesworth, chairman of the club's official supporters association, was due to ask club officials for confirmation about the VIP visitor today (Thursday, July 26). He said: "I've not heard anything definite so far.
"If it is true it is a real pat on the back for Karl and all at the club because Sven has a very busy timetable. I'm sure he will have a marvellous time at the club. The stadium will certainly be packed to the rafters for the ceremony."
