SEDGLEY Park's former Welsh international half back, Colin Stephens, has an intriguing showdown in prospect before the new season gets under way, writes STEVE BOTT.
One of the games Sedgley have lined up as a warm-up prior to their big kick-off in Rugby Union's National League Division Two on September 1 is a friendly with National League Division One side Rugby Lions at Park Lane on August 18.
And Rugby just happen to have in their ranks the very man Stephens ousted from the Welsh national side back in 1992.
Paul Turner, who coached Sale into the Premiership before a row with the chief executive led to him leaving the Cheshire club, had just won his first cap when goalkicking stand off Stephens relived him of his position in the Wales side.
Sedgley's first friendly is against Blaydon up in the North East on August 11 and they also entertain Wakefield at Park Lane on August 25, a week before they journey to Plymouth for their first National League One game.
