THE FRIENDS of the Harris Museum and Art Gallery have organised a night to remember historic Preston figure, Joseph Livesey.
Livesey, founder of the 'Temperance movement', will be brought to life in talks by experts Dr David Hunt and Aidan Turner-Bishop.
There will also be a chance to see the newly-conserved 'Sons of Temperance' banner, and hear from the conservator, Vivian Lochhead.
The evening, on Wednesday, September 26, takes place at the Harris from 7.30pm and tickets are £4.50, and refreshments are included.
IRISH rock band The Saw Doctors are set to play the Queen Elizabeth Hall in Oldham on Saturday, October 20.

PRESTON circle dance group are meeting up again after the summer break on Tuesday, August 7, at the Deepdale Adult Day Centre, at 7pm.
New and regular members are welcome to join the group, to learn folk dances from across the world. No partners are needed, as everyone dances together. Regular meetings are then on the first and third Tuesday of every month. For details, call Rosemary on 793658.

BAKER'S Dozen, a new exhibition celebrating children's book illustration, is taking place at the Harris Museum until Saturday, August 25. The show has been curated by Quentin Blake, the first 'Children's Laureate', and most famous for his drawings in books by Roald Dahl such as 'Matilda;, and 'The BFG.' It looks at the how artists illustrate books, from the 'Where's Wally' series to intricate, scientific cross-sections.
