MANAGER David Moyes has confirmed he has made a "substantial" bid for Manchester United utility player Jonathan Greening.
The versatile 22-year-old, who usually plays in midfield, but can also play at the back or up front, made several first team appearances for United last season.
But his top level future at the Old Trafford club could obviously be restricted by the sheer number of other quality players at the club.
The bid is believed to be in the region of £2m but it is known Middlesbrough, now managed by Alex Ferguson's former right hand man Steve McClaren are also interested in him.
The signing of Greening would be welcome boost to the squad and many fans would see him as a replacement for Michael Appleton was sold to West Brom last season.
