SUPER SAINTS helped launch the town's new £50,000 state-of-the-art ambulance last week and were joined by Andy Sharp, acting operations manager of the Mersey Regional Ambulance Service, to mark the event at Knowsley Road.
The ambulance has a new design featuring green and yellow quarters, like those already seen on rapid response vehicles and is part of a 20-strong fleet costing £1 million which has recently come into service across Cheshire and Merseyside.
As well as essential items, including stretchers and oxygen cylinders, patients will also benefit from the best in modern equipment such as a defribrillator worth £7,000, which is capable of providing an electric shock to get the heart pumping again.
Andy Sharp said: "This new frontline ambulance is designed to be safer and provide up-to-date equipment for patients. Ambulances these days are multipurpose and, combined with the new equipment, enable us to save more lives."
