GIGG Lane will be bursting at the seams this Sunday when Bury Football Club throw back the doors for a rare Open Day. Supporters of all ages will be going behind the Shakers' scenes for a fascinating insight into the workings of a professional soccer club.
Club chairman Terry Robinson views the occasion as a thank-you to fans and people of the town for getting behind the Save Our Shakers campaign over the last few months.
Indeed, it's not only Bury supporters who are welcome on the day, everyone is invited to come down and see just what the club have to offer.
It promises to be a real day to remember with something for all the family.
The Shakers management and first team squad will be making an appearance throughout the afternoon signing autographs and posing for photographs.
And there will also be an appearance from the Lancashire Fusiliers recruitment team who will have their popular paint ball range in action with numerous other stalls on display.
Groundstaff can be seen working on the renovated Gigg Lane pitch while the club's physiotherapists will be on hand to show just what goes into getting today's soccer stars fit to play every Saturday afternoon.
A visit behind the scenes to the Gigg Lane dressing rooms as well as the club's control box showing a closed circuit television view of every part of the ground are expected to be popular as is a look behind the scenes at the club's brand new Internet site.
Bury FC's centre of excellence squads will also be giving demonstrations of their skills while the club's community coaches will put youngsters through their paces on the five-a-side pitches.
The club's official Supporters Association will have a stand on the day for fans to renew their membership and commercial boss Peter Young's staff will be available to talk about any sponsorship opportunities. The highly-rated Starkies restaurant will also be open for a full tour.
Tower FM's Paul Fairclough will be presenting their Sunday Brunch Live show from the ground and the club's social club will be open all afternoon.
The ground will be open from noon to 4pm and admission is free.
