TALENTED chefs at a Darwen restaurant cooked up a real treat for judges as they scooped the first culinary award of its kind.
Ayoob Ali, proprietor of the the Akash Indian Restaurant, in Duckworth Street, amazed tasters as they sampled his quality cuisine of murghi masala, spinach and king prawn and pilau rice.
And his delightful dishes were so tasty they beat off competition from five other restaurants who had entered the first curry competition to be run across Blackburn and Darwen.
Run by the Chartered Instititute of Environmental Health it is the first time Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council had entered the contest, which aims to improve standards of hygiene, culinary excellence and build positive relationships with chefs and restaurateurs.
