THE OLDEST member of an Atherton theatre has been rewarded for her support with a floral tribute.
Frances Butler celebrated her 103rd birthday in June and is the only member in Manor Fold Residential Home's 20-year history to reach such an age.
The theatre team, from the New Garrett Theatre, which is based at Formby Hall, wanted to thank Frances for her loyal support and surprised her with a colourful bouquet of flowers. Frances, who was born in 1898 and received a telegram from the queen on her centenary, has lived at Manor Fold Residential Home in Bag Lane, Atherton, since December last year.
Sharon Davies, Care Manager at the home said: "She's a marvellous person and is well-liked by everyone. She looks very young for her age and is fitter than us!"
Since her move, Frances has been an avid theatre-goer and has seen every show staged by the theatre company.
The mother-of-two, who has three grand-daughters and a great-grandchild, used to enjoy singing and performing herself, and was once a member of the over-60s club at the New Garrett Theatre.
She is now looking forward to seeing their next show, the '70s musical, All Flared Up, which runs from 8-10 August.
