PILKINGTON Spartans came up against a confident Sutton side in this week's matches in the St Helens & District Rounders League.
Julie Derbyshire was Sutton's star with a hat-trick of rounders and a catch, ably assisted by Andrea Travis, who scored two rounders, and some excellent catching by Julie Pendlebury and Chris Hooley.
Spartans rallied well, with good fielding from Janet Mayer, Chris Cunningham and Eileen McDonagh. Their scorers were Janet Ryder and Jean Thomspon.
Windle lead Division One with four games to play but with Grasshoppers, Spartans and Sutton also well positioned, the title race should go down to the wire.
Meanwhile, Division Two is also still wide open
