ST HELENS 1st XI made the journey to Bolton for the last time on Saturday as the hosts are leaving the Liverpool Competition at the end of the season.
The visitors batted first and compiled 229-6 declared. Roger Burrows led the way with 95 including ten fours, only to be caught on the boundary aiming to reach 100.
He was ably supported by Gareth Davies (32), Craig Horabin (30) and Darren Tyms.
Bolton, in reply, only seemed concerned with a draw and with 17 overs lost to rain, they ended on 135-3, Bob Kenny, Adam Friar and Darren Tyms taking a wicket each.
The 2nd XI at home to Caldy batted first and were 180 all out in 47 overs. The innings was totally dominated by David Lowe who hit 98, including 13 fours, before being run out aiming to keep the strike.
In reply, Caldy were pegged back by Ian Greener (4-31) and Lowe (2-32) and finished on 134-8. Mick Kenny chipped in with 2 for 38.
In the Chester Cup quarter-final against Ormskirk, St Helens were all out for a disappointing 80 despite the efforts of the in-form David Lowe (42).
Excellent fielding and a good effort by Daniel Massey (3-22) helped restore some pride before Ormskirk eased home by six wickets.
On Saturday, July 28 the 1st XI entertain Caldy and the 2nd XI are away to Bolton, while on Sunday the 3rd XI are away to Huyton.
