LLORCA: My Precious Thing (F Communications) -- Sensuous and rich, this house track is packed with emotion thanks to vocalist Lady Bird. Although Ludovic Llorca is best known for his jazz breaks, his new, warmer approach is sure to rock the deeper dance floor and headphone listeners alike. (7/10) CL

DELIRIOUS?: Take Me Away (Furious) -- As dreary a love song as a wet afternoon in July. Their last single, Waiting For The Summer, saw Martin Smith and his band promising great things with a Dodgy-influenced effort. But whoever selected this as single wants to take a very long holiday in the sun. (3/10) CL

ATOMIC KITTEN: Eternal Flame (Virgin) -- I hold my hand up. I don't like Atomic Kitten at the best of times but this cheap cover takes the biscuit. A super-safe chart filler the month before their new album comes out. It wouldn't be so bad if they'd altered the arrangement a bit more and infused a bit of their own personality on the Bangles hit. But lacking both charisma and style, our Scouse trio have left this track void of energy or life. (0/10) CL Albums AALIYAH: Aaliyah (Blackground) -- Aaliyah's third album and the first in five years sees her trying to push back the boundaries of her earlier work. Part-produced by Timbaland, who provides unexperimental and boring production, the album fails to captivate the mind in any way. A journey through hip-hop beats, funk and abstract techno, it ends up being little more than style-over-content R and B. The finished product is sophisticated and soulful yet unappealing. Sadly, on this showing, Aaliyah is little more than just a pretty face. (2/10) SB
