A HANG-GLIDER sparked a rescue operation after crashing onto remote hillside.
A 35-year-old man, who has not been named, plummeted onto Fair Snape Fell, north of Chipping, about 7.15pm yesterday.
Mountain rescuers and the north west air ambulance were called in to help find the man who was reported to have suffered lower leg injuries as a result of the fall.
They were forced to make their way up a nearby farm track by Higher Fair Snape Farm to get to the man after he landed on a steep hillside. He was taken to hospital.
Inspector Steve Haworth said: "The air ambulance and mountain rescuers were called in because he landed in a very difficult spot on a very steep slope so they were going to have to manoeuvre him down the hillside until they can get him away."
