A MAN was due to appear in court today charged with wounding and dangerous driving after a car being chased by police collided with a motorbike and seriously injured the rider.
Malik Faizal Khan, 21, of St James' Road, Blackburn, has also been charged with other motoring offences and was due before Blackburn magistrates.
Sajid Hussain, 25, of Castle Street, Brierfield, was also questioned by police in connection with the incident which took place at 9.25pm on Thursday, July 19, but released on police bail pending further inquiries.
The charges followed an incident near the junction of Shadsworth Road and Rothesay Road in Shadsworth when a Ford Granada pursued by police collided with a Honda motorcycle ridden by grandfather of four Frank Almond, 54, of Leopold Way, Blackburn.
He sustained serious head injuries and was today said to be 'poorly' in Blackburn Royal Infirmary.
