A MAN was stabbed twice during a suspected racial attack in Bury's Interchange bus station.
The 31-year-old suffered a punctured lung after being confronted by two youths -- both with skinheads. One of the men stabbed him in the chest and back.
The victim, an Afro-Caribbean from Cheetham Hill, Manchester, was taken to Bury General Hospital for emergency surgery.
Police have described the man's injuries as serious but not life threatening.
Det Sgt Duncan Heywood said: "This was an unprovoked attack by two heads. A teenage girl was with the offenders at the time.
"We are currently viewing CCTV footage from the interchange and are keen to speak to anyone who was in the bus station, between 8.45pm and 9pm on Saturday, to contact Bury CID if they have any information about the attack or the offenders.
"We are treating this matter as racial."
Anyone with information can call Bury CID on 0161 856 8150 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
