SUBSTITUTE professional Claude Henderson took a hat-trick on his way to figures of 9-89 as Lowerhouse pulled off a thrilling 16-run win over Haslingden.

Chasing the home side's 221-4, in which Henderson had made an unbeaten 89 and shared a fourth-wicket stand of 144 with Dave Whalley (84), Haslingden were well placed for victory as Mike Ingham (50) and Paul Blackledge (52) put on 120 for the fourth wicket.

However, Henderson then wiped out the middle order by removing Andy Smith, Imtiaz and then Ingham in successive deliveries.

The former East Lancashire spinner had taken 3-82 from his first 22 overs but then claimed 6-7 inside the next three to instigate a dramatic collapse and clinch a maximum points victory with just one ball to spare.

Colne professional Marcus North was also in superb form with both bat and ball as his side beat lowly Church by 58 runs.

North top-scored with 73 to build on an excellent start provided by Jeff Ellis (34) and Gary Hunt (40).

The paid man put on 83 for the third wicket with captain Gary Laycock (37) as he passed 50 off 64 balls. In all, North hit eight boundaries as Colne posted 242-9, despite a six-wicket haul from Nick Westwell.

North then weighed in with six wickets as Church were dismissed with more than two overs in hand, despite excellent middle order contributions from skipper Alec Holt (46), and his predecessor Mark Aspin, who made a half-century off 63 balls with seven fours and two sixes.

Exceptional performances from both professionals lit up Ramsbottom's clash at home to Burnley.

Ramsbottom's Brad Hodge just edged it in the batting stakes, registering 114 which included 10 fours and three sixes.

Burnley's Dale Benkenstein hit 11 fours and one six on his way to 112 but was the better performer with the ball, taking two wickets for 32 runs.

Burnley won by five wickets.

Paul Turner's 53, which included 10 fours, helped East Lancs to a five-wicket win at Rawtenstall.

Sub-pro Dave Callaghan also chipped in with 31 with the bat and two wickets with the ball, conceding just 21 runs for the visitors.

Matthew Mott (10 fours and one six) and Richard Wood had earlier put on 86 for the third wicket for Rawtenstall but the visitors reached their target of 176 with 10 overs to spare.

A top-order collapse from Accrington resulted in a seven-wicket home win for Todmorden.

The visitors were 76-7 but Adam Greenwood's 61 gave them something to bowl at. Greenwood and Damian Clarke put 43 on for the ninth wicket but the score reached wasn't quite good enough.

Todmorden had no trouble reaching their target after Richard Baigent and Chris Dearden put on 112 for the second wicket, Dearden reaching his half-century in 46 balls.

Despite a superb performance with the bat and ball, Rishton's John Seedle ended up on the losing side against top-of-the-table Bacup.

Seedle first took five wickets for 90 runs and then went on to register 71 not out, which included five fours and three sixes.

But the home side ran out of overs and were beaten by 36 runs.
