SOME of the country's latest high-tech machinery will be on display at the first show of its kind to take place in East Lancashire.
'Engineering 2001' will be hosted by Northern Technologies in Nelson late next month and will feature more than 30 of the UK's biggest engineering suppliers such as SecoTools and Bridgeport Machine Tools.
Organisers of the two-day exhibition and conference are hoping the numerous demonstrations and workshops will pull in the crowds and make it a day to remember.
There will be a keynote presentation from Dr Gerry Fitzpatrick from Rolls Royce Plc and star attractions will include the revolutionary Bridgeport FGC 1000 Viper.
Organiser Barry Mooney said he was delighted the event would be taking place in Nelson and said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for engineers to view plant machinery and related services on their own doorstep.
"Normally you would have to travel to Birmingham or London to see anything like this."
The event will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 21 and 22.
