VISITORS from the Czech Republic will be checking into Cliviger on Saturday at a start of a one-week holiday in the area.
The 23-strong group will be guests of members of the village's Mount Zion Independent Methodist Chapel and, for many, it will be their first excursion out of their homeland.
Mount Zion member Susan Walsh said the chapel had maintained links with the visitors' own church in the Southern Czech town of Husinec for some years, following the collapse of the former Communist regime which outlawed religious activity.
Mount Zion has been a sponsor of the Czech Church and there have been visits to it by local chapel members.
The visiting group, mainly young people, have saved hard for the overland bus trip - the journey to London alone costing £60, equivalent to a month's wages, says Susan.
They will spend Sunday resting after their 24-hour trip before embarking on a series of events and excursions organised by their hosts.
Monday sees a trip to Blackpool and Marton Mere while on Tuesday evening the visitors will stage a Czech night in the chapel.
On Wednesday they will visit Skipton and the Dales.
Visits to Hebden Bridge, Towneley Nature Trail and a Lancashire night are also planned.
