A "SECRET" gem of a garden in Padiham is to be opened to the public for the first time.

Cora Gallagher is inviting members of the public to "hop along" to her garden, which has a large population of frogs, in Rossall Close.

Money raised from the event on Sunday will go to British Red Cross

The garden has been described as a true delight by David Bollenberg, fund-raiser for British Red Cross Lancashire. He said: "It will inspire garden lovers of all ages.

"This is the sort of garden that shows people wonderful results are achievable in their own garden.

"It is a garden that probably has more in common with most people's than a large country estate or huge show garden like Kew."

The garden has many fruit trees, two water features (with the many frogs) an interesting herb patch, a gorgeous Korean Fir tree and countless colourful and variegated Sedums.

Cora grew the garden from scratch and changes it each year.

Her garden will be open to view from 11am to 4pm on Sunday.

Every pound spent will go to British Red Cross to help local people face difficulties in their lives.

The open gardens programme is supported by Cheshire Building Society.
