BURY chairman Terry Robinson has sent a message of sympathy to his manager and players, writes STEVE CANAVAN.

Robinson's move follows comments by Bury boss Andy Preece who spoke about his frustration at not knowing when the long-awaited takeover of the club will go through.

Preece also revealed that some out-of-contract players will stop getting paid next week.

Robinson, in Wales yesterday to see Bury draw 1-1 in a friendly at Swansea City, told the BEN: "Whilst there is every sympathy and understanding of Andy's position, by the very nature of this particular takeover, it has been time consuming.

"The position now appears that the High Court is satisfied with the arrangements and all representatives of the interested parties are in discussion regarding the contracts for the sale of Bury Football Club.

"The position of the players who have yet to sign contracts will be resolved in the peace and tranquility of Wales.

"The management team will also be taking time to assess the overall picture and look at the trialists who have been training with us since the start of pre season.

"The concern of players regarding payments was whether the offers and discussions would be complete before existing contracted notices had run out rather than the club not being in a position to fund wages."

Bury's team for yesterday's clash at Swansea included Glyn Garner in goal, Jon Newby and Baichung Bhutia up front and Matt Murphy - about to become Bury's latest signing - in midfield.

The Shakers were behind for most of the game but equalised three minutes from time when Chris Billy fired home from the edge of the box.

Preece singled out young defender Michael Nelson for a man of the match performance. and said he was delighted with the team's effort
