WARD boundaries in the Wyre and Fylde boroughs will change as part of a Government shake-up of electoral arrangements.
The Borough of Fylde will lose one of its 22 wards and all but three of the existing boundaries have been altered. Two extra councillors will be installed, giving a total of 51 for the area. There will be three in 12 wards, two in six and three wards will have one member.
In Wyre the new order creates 26 wards, one less than before, and all but three of the existing ward boundaries will be modified. There will be 55 councillors, one less than at present. Nine wards are to be represented by three members, 11 wards will have two members and six will have one member.
Orders were signed early this month by Local Government minister Alan Whitehead. They give effect to recommendations made by the Local Government Commission for England in September, 2000, as part of their programme of periodic electoral reviews.
