DRUG addict Dean Roberts was found dead, kneeling on the floor in a shed, after taking a cocktail of heroin and temazepam.
An inquest heard that his former girlfriend, who had given him her prescribed temazepam to look after, found "Deano" in the shed behind Cherry Tree Lodge guest house, Islington, Blackburn.
A post mortem examination revealed needle marks on various parts of Mr Robert's body and blood tests revealed a fatal level of morphine, an "above-therapeutic" level of temazepam and a minimal amount of diazepam. The medical cause of death was given as morphine and temazepam toxicity.
Mr Roberts, 26, of no fixed address, was a former resident at the Cherry Tree Lodge and on the day of his death had had been seen at the side of the building vomiting. A member of staff had asked if he wanted any help but he had said he was all right.
His former girlfriend, Catherine Magee, said in her statement that she had seen Mr Roberts at the hostel that morning and given him her temazepam to look after. In the early hours of the following morning she had gone to the shed, somewhere she had slept on previous occasions.
She found Mr Roberts on his knees with his head slumped forward to the floor. Miss Magee raised the alarm and tried to revive Mr Roberts.
Deputy coroner Carolyn Singleton recorded a verdict of misadventure.
