LOCAL MP Peter Pike is calling on local organisations in Burnley and Padiham to identify older people who are the heroes of local volunteering.
Those nominated will be presented with a certificate and an invitation to the House of Commons by the International Year of Volunteers Older People's Group.
Mr Pike said he was delighted to be involved in the initiative to recognise the contribution made by older people in the community.
He said many had been volunteers for years, helping in hospitals or with children and young people or just by being good neighbours.
Anyone wanting to put someone's name forward should write to Mr Pike at the House of Commons, London, SW1A0AA.
