MOORHOUSE'S Black Cat dark beer may no longer be the Supreme Champion Ale of Great Britain, but bosses at the Burnley brewery are already gearing up to regain the title they won in 2000.
After winning the title, the brewery upped production of the beer to cope with increased demand. A bottled version followed and it is exported around the world.
General manager Nigel Craig was on the panel of judges at the Campaign for Real Ale's Great British Beer Festival this year in London. He said: "We were voted as runners-up in our category, dark beers. That in itself is a fantastic achievement."
"We hope to be nominated again next year and we can make plans for regaining the title."
