THE National Canine Defence League has set up a stall on Darwen Sainsbury's car park to help prevent healthy dogs from being destroyed.
They are offering to microchip pets for £9.50, or free if the owner is on housing benefit, income support, tax credit or state pension.
It is a painless and permanent way of helping to identify dogs if they go stray. League officials believe that if more dogs were microchipped less would be put down because owner scould not be located.
The roadshow will be at the store car park again today from 10am till 4pm.
