IF everyone in Rossendale gave just one penny a day every day of the year Rossendale Hospice's fund-raising problems would be virtually solved.
Preparations are in hand to re-launch the Hospice "penny pincher" scheme later in the autumn.
Help has already been promised by Asda, Rawtenstall, Kwik Save, Rawtenstall and the Co-operative store in Bacup.
The hospice costs £275,000 a year to run.
Hospice volunteer Sheila Townsend said: "the penny pincher scheme has been fairly successful in the past but we are going to give a push in October.
"We issue plastic containers and ask people to give just one penny a day.
"We are asking places like supermarkets and other large employers to allow us to hand out the containers at their premises and for them to be handed back in their. We also have shops in all the Valley towns."
Anyone who can help the scheme or who wants further information can contact appeals director Liz Nelson on 01706 240081.
