The Reverend Robert Fisher will have pastoral care of two churches from September 1, Lammack and Mellor. He succeeds the Rev Geoffrey Baines who has moved on to the Oldham circuit.

He and his wife Kath, a primary school headteacher, have two grown-up married children.
Mr Fisher was ordained in 1971. He lists his interests as computing, travel and Doctor Who. A welcoming service led by the chairman of the North Lancashire District of the Methodist Church, the revd Stephen Poxon, will be held at Lammack Methodist Church at 7.30pm on August 31.
